Laser cutting can be performed on most types of wood, material,
plasitc (except plastics that contain PVC and a few other types that emit a very strong almost toxic smell during cutting)
Engineered wood (MDF and plywood) works best since it is flat and uniform in thickness, but not all types of MDF and plywood are the same . The glue or bonding material has a big impact on the quality of the cut.
Soft wood / pine up to 10mm also creates clean cuts without charring.
If you want to supply the material we must just check if it wil work.
Perspex - all colours cuts clean but since there are so many options we do not keep all colours in stock.
Popular thickness is 3 - 5mm
Laser engraving is a raster process , the image is converted to black and white and any black parts can then be transferred to the material by burning/evaporating the top layer.
The image quality /depth will depend on the base material so there will be variation between items but that is what makes each product unique.
Deep engraving is ideal for making rubber stamps.
Our history
In the olden days monks spent days that became years to copy a book, then with the inventon of the printing press the industrial revolution started . All of a sudden time and mass production became a major factor in business and every day life.
The power and speed of the laser was first only available for big companies with
big overdrafts but lately the magic of afordable low power laser machines became available to small businesses and private use. The pure fact of enjoying an idea to final item in hand in a short period of time convinced me to invest in my own laser machine.
For that exact same reason we are here to assist individuals / small businesses and even the odd school projects with tasks.
Before any cutting can begin - a vector CAD drawing is required - we can help with that. These days small scale production are made possible with the precision and repeatablility.
Engraving can be done from drawings or pictures - final image will depend on picture quality.
